Unscrew the pen tip.

Remove the spring and the empty cartridge. (Be careful not to lose the spring.)

Insert the refill into the pen with the spring. Screw the pen tip on tightly. (Note that the spring may put some back pressure against the pen tip as it is screwed into place.) The refill may have a protective ball over the tip that should be removed before writing with the pen.
